Megastar of Tollywood and founding president of Praja Rajyam, K. Chiranjeevi, scoffed at rumors that the stage was set for him to become the next chief minister of state after the elections of 2014.
He was in Vizag with his wife to attend a private reception on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, he said, eager to return to the actor, but said he was surprised that some media is aiming to become the next Prime Minister. Chirajeevi explained that he waved to his fans Badrinath audio release function in Hyderabad on Saturday evening, thinking that they wanted his return to cinema.
"Congressional leaders asked me to campaign in Kadapa, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal elections, what I did to my satisfaction," said Chiranjeevi.
However, congressional sources said the president of UPA, Sonia Gandhi, was impressed by his performance, especially in Tamil Nadu. In Kadapa too, was the star activist.
"Chiru could lead to a state campaign and the 2014 elections, if we did, he could do for CM of Andhra Pradesh," said a local leader of the Congress. Chiranji was in town to participate in the theengagement businessman and friend's daughter.
Vijayawada Lok Sabha member Lagadapati Rajgopal, Rajya Sabha member T. Subbirami Reddy, filmmaker and D. Rama Naidu were also present at the function.
